Executive Summary

At QliqQliq, we led a smart SEO project for a renovation company in Toronto. Over six months, we made organic traffic go up by +344% and organic revenue by +266%. We started with 60 daily visits and raised it to 220. We achieved this by carefully improving technical aspects, making content better, and working hard on building strong backlinks. This overall method not only helped the company’s online presence but also made them more competitive in the market.

Background and Context

The company has been running for over 15 years. It is well-known in the local area but is not strong online. It has a Domain Authority of 25 and 800 pages that are indexed. Most of its traffic comes from Direct visits at 35% and Organic Search at 40%. There are five main renovation companies in the area. These companies have an average Domain Authority of 45.

SEO Audit

  1. a. Technical SEO – A check on site speed showed that it takes about 4 seconds to load.
    • Confirmed that the site is mobile-friendly and suggested some user interface improvements.
    • Verified that the XML sitemap and robots.txt are correct and present.
    • The URL structure was organized, but some URLs could be clearer.
    • Found 20 404 errors and bad redirects that need fixing.
    • Solved several canonicalization issues to avoid duplicate content.
    • Made sure the site has an active HTTPS/SSL certificate.
  2. b. On-Page SEO – The content quality is good, but some pages did not focus on target keywords.
    • Enhanced keyword use on important pages.
    • Optimized meta titles, descriptions, and header tags to improve the click-through rate.
    • Improved image optimization with the correct use of alt text.
  3. c. Off-Page SEO – A check on backlinks found 150 linking sites, with 15% being of low quality.
    • Examined and improved the use of anchor text to avoid excessive use.
    • Compared the linking sites to others and found areas to improve.
    • Conducted a backlink check on competitors for comparison.
  4. d. Local SEO – Optimized the Google My Business listing with full details and regular updates.
    • Increased local citations to 50+ useful directories.
    • Boosted online reviews and ratings, focusing on what customers like.
  5. e. User Experience (UX) – Improved site navigation and layout for better visitor interaction.
    • Enhanced the mobile experience to meet best practice standards.
    • Refined the internal linking to share page authority better.

Keyword Analysis

I focused on important keywords like “Toronto home renovation” and “kitchen remodeling Toronto.” These went from positions 30 and 40 to the top 10. I spotted keywords such as “bathroom renovation Toronto” and looked at what competitors were doing. This helped me find gaps.

Content Strategy

I looked at the current content and found topics that were missing in niche renovations. I suggested making detailed guides for certain renovation projects, starting a blog series with renovation tips, and sharing client success stories. I also made a plan for future posts that focus on popular topics over the next few months.

Backlink Strategy

I made a plan for guest posting on home improvement blogs. The plan includes working together with local suppliers for marketing projects. It also suggests joining community events to gain local backlinks. I recommend removing 25 harmful backlinks and aiming for .edu and .gov domains to get high-quality backlinks.

Implementation Plan

Phased work happened over six months. It started with quick technical SEO fixes. In the first two months, there was a big change in the content. Then, work continued with a focused effort on getting backlinks. Tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Google Analytics were used to carry out and track this work.

Monitoring and Reporting

Key measures like organic traffic, keyword rankings, and backlink quality were checked using Google Analytics and SEMrush. We shared progress reports every two weeks and held monthly reviews to change our plans if needed.

Risks and Challenges

I talked about challenges we might face. One challenge is getting used to digital-first marketing by our team. Another is keeping a good backlink strategy even with pressures around us. We will have training that happens all the time and will set clear rules for quality.

Next Steps

With the basic SEO improvements done, our next steps want to strengthen and build on the progress we made:

  1. Continuous Content Development: We will keep adding new content to the website. This includes detailed guides, renovation tips, and client stories. A current calendar will help us connect with our audience well.
  2. Active Backlink Campaign: Our ongoing plan includes reaching out to get good backlinks from trusted .edu, .gov, and industry sites. We will also do guest blogging and work with local businesses to improve local SEO.
  3. Regular Performance Check: We will use tools like SEMrush and Google Analytics to track important metrics such as traffic sources, keyword rankings, and conversion rates. This information will help us review and adjust our strategy regularly to stay in line with market changes and company targets.
  4. Expanding Local SEO Efforts: We will optimize the Google My Business listing and join local community events to boost our online presence and draw in more local customers.
  5. Ongoing UX Improvements: We will keep improving user experience, especially on mobile. This will help us achieve better usability and engagement, which supports our goal of improving conversions.

These specific actions aim to keep the renovation company visible online and in the market. This way, they will stay on top in the busy Toronto renovation market.
