Mass Media

Mass Media: The Debate

Mass media today has changed a lot. With social media spreading fake news has become easier than ever, as youth are exposed to the social media platforms, they are more prone to joining cults, terrorist groups and indulge in other anti-social activities. While many agree that censorship is necessary today what's concerning is that many governments across the world are using censorship to crush dissent and making mass media less accessible for the common masses. As such, the question arises whether censorship is justifiable at all?

In many parts of the world, media voices are being crushed by verbal attacks, arbitrary detentions and even execution of journalists. In some of the most influential democracies in the world, populist leaders have attempted to throttle the independence of the media sector.

Consider this: Is censorship becoming necessary in today’s world?
