Comprehension is the ultimate goal of reading, a robust vocabulary improves all areas of communication — listening, speaking, reading and writing. The best way to increase and deepen your vocabulary is to spend time reading with an active interest in the words that you find there. As your “passive” vocabulary from reading increases, you will begin to be comfortable actually using new words in speech or writing.
