Water

Possible Solutions for Water

3A major share of the water people use throughout the world is lost through evaporation, leaks, and other losses. It is economically and technically feasible to reduce such water losses to 15%, thereby meeting most of the world’s water needs for the foreseeable future. In domestic settings, reducing water use through waterless toilets, water-efficient appliances, and water quantity monitoring, is an important part of SUSTAINABILITY.

EDUCATING PEOPLE about proper water usage can be a viable solution to the problem of water scarcity. Educating people who are not dealing with water scarcity can help people facing such issues. The people facing the problem can get educated on to prevent unsustainable usage of water and can learn to save it.

There are plenty of technologies available that allow you to RECYCLE RAINWATER and other water that may be used in your home. In Brisbane, Singapore, Namibia and California’s Orange County authorities are recycling wastewater for drinking.

Countries can adopt TECHNOLOGY-BASED PRACTICES to save water more efficiently than conservative ways. New-age technology and engineering solutions are helping residents save water. Similarly, Dar Si Hmad, a nonprofit, in Morocco has installed fog collectors on the slopes of Mount Boutmezguida which helps collect 6,300 litres of water can be harvested daily.

Agriculture accounts for 70 per cent of the planet’s freshwater consumption annually. IMPROVED FARM PRACTICES like vertical farming or drip irrigation can help conserve water. For example in countries like Cuba and France advanced farming techniques are used which have led to an increase in agricultural performance without wasting water.

Without proper sanitation, the water in an area becomes ridden with disease and any number of other problems. By IMPROVING THE SEWAGE SYSTEMS in these areas, we can prevent water scarcity from becoming any worse. In many countries wastewater if properly treated can be an alternative source of water. Countries like Cyprus and Malta reuse their wastewater.
