Anatomy

Anatomy is the branch of biology concerned with the study of the structure of organisms and their parts. Anatomy deals with the structural organization of living things. It is an old science, having its beginnings in prehistoric times. The word “anatomy” comes from the Greek words “ana,” meaning “up,” and “tome,” meaning “a cutting.” Traditionally dependent on cutting and dissecting, today, with imaging technology, studying anatomy is easier to study without dissection.
